New £2 million teaching block completed at Bishop Sutton Primary
By Ros Anstey
Bishop Sutton Primary School has started the new term with major improvements to its facilities costing nearly £2 million.
The £1,954,000 development project includes a new teaching block with five classrooms, cloakrooms and toilets, a new and refurbished reception / entrance area, new food technology room and improvements to the school hall.
Opening the new block in a special ceremony was Chairman of the Council, Cllr Alan Hale.
Headteacher at the school, Dieter Cook, said: “The project was needed to address pupil growth in the area by adding two extra classrooms and to replace three temporary poor condition classrooms.”
Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Cabinet Member for Early Years, Children, and Youth, Cllr Michael Evans (Conservative, Midsomer Norton North) said: “This investment will ensure that children living in Bishop Sutton and the surrounding rural area can have a place at their local school.
“It is this council’s priority that we provide sufficient school places in the right areas to meet need and parental choice.”
